As part of Yale’s commitment to sustainability and the Planetary Solutions initiative, Yale Divinity School is developing the Living Village—a transformative project that will provide affordable, sustainable housing for students while designed to the ambitious standards of the Living Building Challenge. This net-positive-energy building will inspire and teach our community how to live in harmony with the Earth.
The Living Village is a key element of YDS’s academic and moral vision, and it will be a daring expression of inclusivity, sustainability, and forward-looking design. Construction is underway, with occupancy expected by August 2025.
YDS Dean Gregory E. Sterling will explore the science, design, and ethical underpinnings of the Living Village. This is a unique opportunity to learn how this transformative project is setting new standards in sustainable architecture and community living.
